5mm Foamex is a light-weight, flexible, all-purpose PVC foam board. It is a thick, solid sheet with a smooth face for high-quality direct printing. It is a rigid material with good water resistance and is used for medium-sized displays, safety signs, exhibition panels and shop signage, indoors and outdoors.
The board itself is 5mm thick (about 0.2 inches), as its name implies. This thickness is the most popular in our catalogue as it gives more depth than the thinner 3mm version, making displays look more attractive and slightly more self-supporting, yet light enough to transport.
While both are light, easily installed and printable, the main differences are in rigidity and application:
Rigidity: 5mm Foamex is stiffer and a little more self-supporting than 3mm. Better for large displays or uneven ground.
Depth: The extra-thick 5mm board gives the signage a more substantial and professional look.
Durability: While 3mm is a good choice for indoor or short-term signage, 5mm is stronger and cheaper for environmentally resistant outdoor signage.
Weight: The 5mm board is barely heavier than the 3mm but easy to handle and transport.
