10mm Foamex is a 1/4 thick semi-rigid, waterproof & weather-resistant sheet made from compacted PVC foam. It is suitable for robust indoor & outdoor signs, displays, exhibitions & for some architectural applications such as wall cladding or insulation.
A 10mm foamex board typically weighs around 5 kg per square metre.
To give you a practical sense:
1 m × 1 m (10mm thick): ~5 kg
8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220mm): ~15 kg
The exact weight can vary slightly depending on the manufacturer and foam density, but this is the industry standard range used for planning handling, fixing, and transport.
Yes. It is waterproof, rot-proof and UV stable. Good choice for permanent outdoor signage and can last up to 3-5 years. It won’t swell or delaminate in the rain as wood does. For extremely long-term architectural signs (10 years +), we recommend Dibond, but 10mm foamex printing is the norm for long-term hoardings.
Due to its weight and thickness, we recommend using screws (we can pre-drill holes) or a high-strength “grab” adhesive. It is rigid enough to bridge gaps, so you can screw it directly into battens or uneven brickwork without it warping.
